I wholeheartedly second this recommendation. I started F Ta BV before the hiatus and it's officially back to updating. This self-insert takes a completely different version of the SI genre by really adding in its own sideplot, but luckily it comes second to the main plot and ties in as well with the main plot as possible. The insert, Letha, manages to find the perfect mix of uniqueness and seriousness that so many authors struggle with, and it allows her to truly interact with all the characters in a way that gives her more depth than most of the canon characters. Canon characters are also all in character and often have conversations or scenelets focusing more on each of them (especially in the omake).
The omakes are a must for anyone who enjoys the story, they aren't entirely necessary, but explain the reasoning and depth behind the characters.
