It's a Metal Gear crossover in all but name. The overall plot is a Zelda game - Link adventures through a variety of environments and boss fights, gathering items along the way, accompanied by modernized versions of Navi and Epona. But the style and tone is a Metal Gear-esque spy thriller, with lots of Technology Porn, large scale shootouts, and of course, the giant robots at the center of it. The two elements blend surprisingly well, with the war story adding some grit to Zelda's free-roaming gameplay and the more whimsical nature of Zelda adding some style to the war story.
