Like most shows on Disney Channel, I was not sure if I would like Phineas and Ferb when it first aired. I did not know anything about the show other than that it featured Ashley Tisdale from "High School Musical" and Mitchell Musso from "Hannah Montana" and that it was about these two stepbrothers who do something different every day. Now, however, I must say that is the best show on Disney Channel right now and here is why:
1. Just about every episode has at least one original song and most of them are memorable. My favorite songs are "Gitchi Gitchi Goo", "Disco Miniature Golfing Queen" and "Ducky Mo Mo Is My Friend", among others.
2. Each episode has not one, not two, but three different subplots. The first subplot involves Phineas and Ferb building that day's invention. The second subplot involves the boys' pet platypus, Perry, a.k.a. "Agent P", attempting to stop Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz from taking over the Tri-State Area. The third subplot involves Candace attempting to reveal her brothers' invention to their mother, with no success. (Sometimes this third subplot will be replaced with Candace spending time with her boyfriend Jeremy or best friend Stacy). Most Disney Channel shows will have two subplots, but this may be the only one with three.
3. The show's popularity appears to be increasing. Last year, the show's first televised movie "Phineas And Ferb: Across The Second Dimension" premiered on Disney Channel and now a theatrical movie is scheduled to be released in 2013. To the best of my knowledge, Phineas and Ferb will be just the third Disney Channel Original Series (after "Lizzie Mcguire" and "Hannah Montana") to have a movie based on it receive a theatrical release. And the show was recently renewed for a fourth season which will have new episodes running through 2014. This would allow it to surpass Kim Possible as Disney Channel's longest running original animated series in terms of both episodes aired and number of years aired as well as surpass Wizards of Waverly Place as Disney Channel's longest running original series in terms of episodes aired.
These are just a few of the reasons why I believe Phineas and Ferb is the best show on Disney Channel right now.
