When the idea of a Tamagotchi anime is first brought-up, the average person would imagine it as either a blatant cash-grab or just a plain stupid idea, but the Tamagotchi anime manages to subvert these initial mindsets and actually be pretty great. Not as deep or mature as its spear counterpart Digimon, but still be worth the time.
Entertaining stories, characters that are equally adorable and enjoyable, animation that lives up to other animes, well-paced and well-executed humor and heart, and several fantastic original songs, all in an anime where the Tamagotchi virtual pets are the source material.
I sincerely recommend this anime, especially if you like Spongebob, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, etc. It's a shame that the only two attempts to dub the anime in English so far have fallen flat on their faces, with the former attempt (9GO! dub) only covering 26 episodes with voiceovers that lack personality, and the latter attempt (TMGC Friends Webisodes) only covering 7 episodes and splitting them into 3-4 minutes. This anime deserves far better.
