Okay, this really rubs me the wrong way:

  • Values Dissonance: The movie reeks of Generation X values of rebellion against authority, preferring harsh truths to comforting lies, and a desire for freedom and to be treated as adults. However, to Millennials, who tend to prefer deference to authority, feeling secure and safe at all times, and being taken care of and guided by those in power, the human resistance comes off as pointless, or sees them as terrorists disrupting the nice, safe world of the Matrix provided by the benevolent Machine overlords who are, after all, taking care of humanity.

Can I just say that this feels like nothing but an excuse to rant against millenials and (what the poster believes to be) their failings? And even if not, where does that "Them millenials love authority, so they probably root for the oh-so benevolent machines!" even come from?

I don't know, this feels less like an good-faith edit and more like some flamebait. oO

Yeah that's a load of malarky, I've never seen anyone claim millennials prefer to defer to authority in favor of feeling safe and secure.

I vote cut. People claim that millennials love authority, but that's rank nonsense in my experience.
