Does the following apply to this film?

Took the Bad Film Seriously: Positive example. Among critics and viewers who otherwise disliked the film, nevertheless there is a lot of praise for Joaquin Phoenix's acting. Some viewers who did like the movie have also credited Phoenix's performance as what keeps it from being an otherwise bad film.

Joker is a critical and commercial success, so I don't think it fits, but I'm not certain so I thought I'd ask.
