Jonathan is considered by the fanbase as ONE of the best Jo Jos, although not precisely THE Best. An argument can be made in that Jo Jo's western fans cosider Jotaro in Part 3 pre-character development or Giorno in Part 5 far more boring in characterization than Jonathan. You can find this out by reading in forums of the franchise and in word of mouth.
There's also the case of misinformation about him being undermined by Dio Brando, call it a "Never Live It Down" scenario, and never adressing the fact tha he's the one that demolishes Dio thoroughout Phantom Blood and ruins his plans of world domination (that is, until Stardust Crusaders), using that specific trope as a way to trivialize and Flanderize the character.
In the "lack" of character development, if the people putting opinions here would know anything about character development or character arc, they'd realize that ALL of the Jo Jos have an arc that move the plot forward and that it's as important as development, because if development were as important as people here make it out to be, half of every story ever told since the creation of Aristothelic storytelling would suck.
Any reason why Jonathan's Base-Breaking Character entry is removed?
