I never thought Lance's development was odd. It always struck me that, as someone who always thought he had no personality of his own, he previously acted to fit his 'internal' image of himself. When Eri singles him out above the others, he starts changing. Some of the changes are based off things Eri says and does, but a significant portion don't. (Red does this too, but it's expressed differently.) Lance started out as very insecure, but once he felt confident about Eri's affection, he started feeling more confident in himself and to 'break the mold', and act more on what he wanted. I also think he's still experimenting with his own identity a bit (as teenagers tend to do), but Eri's getting the front row seat to that particular show since he trusts her.
I was never able to enjoy that either. :/ I am inclined to think that Eri kinks hard on that, which Lance was reacting to, and it seems to work on other players. But I am just like. You are way too controlling, Lance, and I feel looked down upon here. Go away. Let me have this fun, ridiculous play without flipping out at the thought of Red kissing me. Or trying to possess me like this. Why. It is only through some disassociation from Eri that I got through it.
Lance's development in his route. Am I the only one who thinks it feels very... off? And wrong? It doesn't feel like a usual Defrosting Ice Person, sure, but it didn't seem to work in my opinion. Lance does not come across as the type who would be able to tease me like that - and it's a different type of teasing than Yuri's, and I rather liked Yuri's. But Lance teasing... quite frankly, I was in hysterical tears during his penultimate scene in bed, wanting to yell at him to go away... That scene just felt so wrong.
