You are possibly stuck in an endless hallway forever, with no goals, no friends and no aspirations? Having left behind the only stable and unchanging thing in the world?
It's open to interpretation though. Like everything else in the game.
How is the "disobedient" path a Downer Ending? It seems obvious to me that in this path you escape from your master (with him begging you to stay), while in the "obedient" one you stay with him and he praises you for having trained you well.
