When I was an undergraduate many thousands of years ago, I knew someone that called themselves "Riordan," who hung around campus and apparently attended classes but wasn't a formal student. That person's sex was completely unknowable, the way they dressed. They were always covered in some kind of white powder, tended to mumble, and generally looked and behaved like a homeless person. (I made the mistake of having lunch with them once. Their lunch consisted of ketchup packets.) Others who knew of Riordan thought they were a patient at Fort Logan Mental Health Institute. Since I'm polite, I never asked them what they were.
