Is it really appropriate to have the Fanchise Killer trope up so early? Yes, the movie didn't make a major splash like a Disney film would, but it still truned a profit, fans everywhere love it dispite the poor critic scores, and there have been several instances where Word of God says they're optimistic about the future of the Monsterverse. Add on that the film doing much better overseas, especially in the Far Eastern market, than it did in America, and it makes declaring this movie a possible Franchise Killer seem very like a very premature call.
