What about the 2 "Song of the Birds" cartoons - the one by Max Fleischer (with a boy as the protagonist) and the remade one by Bill Tytla (with Little Audrey)? Both are Tear Jerkers and involve Disney Deaths.

Both involve children being too careless with their air rifles and both have birds teaching their young to fly. (Fleischer's used robins whereas Tytla uses bluebirds or some junk.) Both of protagonists shoot the babies down and discover that they killed them. The parents in both toons (Fleischer uses a mother and father, Tytla uses a mother) try to revive them, but they presume them dead.

Now let's look at the differences in the funeral scenes. In Fleischer's version, the mother and father sing and cry, and the other robins join them.

But Tytla's version is more solemn and dramatic - all the animals, moon, sky, trees, and flowers mourn the baby bird. The latter features a rabbit tearfully hugging her sleeping bunny, thankful that he's alive while the bird isn't.

The owl leads the procession by foot in Tytla's cartoon, with crows bearing the baby leaf-coffin. The procession in Fleischer's version is in flight, also with the baby in the leaf-coffin. While the grave for the baby is deep in his version, it's shallow in Tytla's.

The children in both toons cry for them as they watch it from their bedroom windows. But Little Audrey's account in Tytla's version makes eyes even redder from crying than the boy's in Fleischer's. "I... I didn't mean to do it..." sobs Little Audrey, "I didn't mean to do it... the little birdie's... so sad..."

And both versions features rain on the funeral scenes, which revives the bird. Those are the Disney Deaths shown here. I'm not telling you what's next, I'm giving you the insights of why they make you cry.

Compared to Fleischer's original "Song of the Birds", I get really choked up more in Tytla's version. The owl-as priest leading the funeral procession, the crying mammals, and the Rabbit hugging the bunny milked a river of tears. Ditto for the birds placing a black bow on the nest, the flowers on the leaf-coffin, the hummingbirds in missing man formation, and the birds making a wreath of flowers. Heart-wrenching.

Because of the funereal matter in the middle of the cartoons, they should be put in Tear Jerker as well as Disney Death.
