Neptune appears to be referential to Sha Wu Jing, not Zhu Ba Jie. Note the difference in weapons (actual curved blade versus a rake) and the fact that Sha Wu Jing directly LIVED IN A RIVER and specialised in water-based combat (and his name contains lots of water and shore imagery. 沙 means sand and 净 means clean, while the dots on the left hand sides are related to the concept of water) as opposed to Zhu Ba Jie whose character was that of a glutton and layabout (although he managed to fight Sha Wu Jing to a standstill while in water, displaying his own proficiency in water combat).
Ok, this just seems too coincidental to be a shoutout, but anyone notice how the episode is number NINE and the grimm attack is threat level NINE? Well, nine is the arc number of Armored Core; and it usually signifies danger. So, armored core shout out?
Okay, this page used to be used for both Fairytale Motifs and Shout-Out. But, at some point, a Fairytale Motifs page got made. It doesn't have much on it and it keeps adding Shout-Out references to it. So, I've added a notice at the top of that page to use the correct page (fairytale motifs on that page and everything else on this page). The questions are:
- Does Mythology and Folklore get troped here or under Fairytale Motifs?
- Do we want two separate pages or just one for both tropes?
Edited by Wyldchyld If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.
