As far as I understand it, this story has an ambiguity at the end. Since Ryuk manually kills Minoru where the new no-selling rule should have taken effect, was Ryuk simply faster, or was the new "rule" really just an order from the Shinigami King to kill any humans transacting the note? (Not unlike Kira writing false rules in the note in the original series, except enforced by the other Shinigami.)
I don't think the story itself gives an answer here, which I've spelled out under the Obvious Rule Patch example, which seems like the correct place for it. I've also tweaked the phrasing of some other examples to not state the precise mechanism of the new rule, so as to avoid having to repeat this point in too many places in the article.
