  • A non-army example in Retro Chill — after being the second-in-command to Calvin in the Five-Man Band, he suddenly gets forced to lead the group after Calvin is kidnapped by the villains.

Since the trope is explicitly about the military, I think this example should be moved to Time to Step Up, Commander or similar.

The Star Trek examples should probably all be formatted the same way, probably like the TNG examples, as they are all spread out and confusing to find.

In the volume 3, issue 3 of "GI Joe vs. the Transformers," Mainframe knocks out Dr. Li, the leader of the Serpentor Project when it's clear the doc just wants to recover the research the Serpent O.R. (organic robot) represents and not stop the disaster Serpent O.R. could unleash.

Mainframe then turns to Professor Martin (who had a better idea of what Serpent O.R. was as well as a better understanding of priorities) and then told him HE was the leader of the Project now. Which the Professor did to aid the Joes.

In the Star Trek The Animated Series episode "The Lorelei Signal", Lieutenant Uhura did leave the bridge, while leading the landing party.
