There's also the subtrope of "only one row of teeth showing" which can usually be excused away by the person's lip covering the other row. Of course then you have the simpsons, where the teeth turn round but only when the mouth is open..

In addition to Uncanny Valley danger, drawing teeth for even a fairly realistic looking human can easily have them end up looking like vampires or otherwise feral, as just drawing to-scale canines can come off looking like fangs. It's an artistic challenge like five-fingered hands are.
