I'm up for a rename to "Manipulative Mentor" as well. The current name...

  • ...is a character-named trope, (strike)

  • ...from an novel that is not known of worldwide, (strike)

  • ...with tons of anti-Semitic baggage. (strike)

Manipulative Mentor describes the trope more clearly, more precisely, and less offensively.

There's so much I wish I could take back.

The page description has lots of brackets and links, which make it quite confusing to read. After reading it for several times, I still really don't know what a Svengali is. Maybe someone who has a better understanding of it might do a rewrite?

I agree, after reading it I'm not sure what a Svengali is.
