The Mass Effect, Quarians don't seem to live a bad life or have anything wrong with their method of sustenance. Goes for World of Warcraft, too. They're Dependent, not Terminally Dependent. Terminally Dependent Society requires that they be dependent on something that it is bad to be dependent on, right?

"* When the Childlike Empress in The Neverending Story becomes sick, the land and the people she rules start dying as well.

  • Or the other way around. Actually, both problems have the same, separate cause."

The example of The Neverending Story seems more a case of a Fisher King — the land sickening because the monarch's sickening or vice-versa — than it does this Trope.
