Mary, that Mary, from the Bible -one of the pamphlets we got in Sunday School/Youth Group had a whole story about how some of the busybody neighbors thought Mary and Joseph had been fooling around and Mary got caught out by finding out she was pregnant while visiting Elizabeth, meaning she couldn't marry Joseph right away. Unfortunately, I 1) don't have the pamphlet any more to source (it's been years and 2) it probably doesn't fit this trope anyway.
(If you're wondering, the church was all "no sex outside of marriage", but they were also "use birth control inside of marriage to limit the number of kids or if it's not safe to get pregnant". Pretty progressive for the 1990s.)
