- In Halo 5, a space elevator is featured in two Osiris Squad gameplay segments on the planet Meridian. It's the first time in the game you are actually on a space elevator, and the first one shown that doesn't end up completely demolished, only damaged, with the elevator car disabled and some scaffolding knocked off, after the Guardian jumps to slipspace.

I wonder how would a space elevator really work. Would the moon and Earth have to be constantly aligned for the elevator to connect... Hmm...

the space elevator goes to space, not from one planet to the other. the energy you would need to go from earth-elevator to moon-elevator would be irrelevant in comparsion to start with a rocket from either one.
"Better" ideas in the real life section... Not quite sure how or who is judging the "better", I mean launch loops are cool...but they are also massive and require more energy input than a space elevator. The "even better" mass drivers have...MANY issues (powering, barrel sealing/barrel evacuation, magnetic saturation of the projectile, peak acceleration, simply exposing a spacecraft filled with sensitive instruments to that magnetic field intensity). None of the technologies are feasible without considerable development, and both launch loops and mass drivers (especially mass drivers) require WAY more energy input than a space elevator to raise the velocity of the cargo to orbital (a space elevator imparts momentum using Earth's rotation). Launch loops and mass drivers may be more feasible, but they are also less energy efficient (just like rockets...which are already in use, and terribly inefficient)...so not really "better"... Also: I added some info on Halo 5 Meridian space tether, I did my best with the spoiler block...but I'm a n00b...so it might be wrong.
