so a bit of trivia: an interesting coincidence is that the original Japanese actor who played Bandora/Rita Repulsa (sans voice), the late great Machiko Soga, who is the villain associated with the trope namer - also played the main villain Queen Hedrian in Denshi Sentai Denziman, the first Super Sentai to feature monsters growing to giant size. Battle Fever J was the first sentai to have a giant robot as part of the heroes’ arsenal, but it only ever fought other giant robots from the enemy’s side, as did some later installments like Goggle Five and Bioman.
