For Real Life especially in Ancient Times you tend to want the enemy King captured rather then killed for a number of obvious Political reasons. Alexander and Darius come to mind.
don't know what episode or anything, but i recall a scene from Naruto where Minato Namikaze & team encounters "Killer B" and "A", Minato's team has been instructed to not engage these 2 should they be encountered, but just run away. but instead of running away, Minato tells his entire team to stay back, saying that he'll take care of these 2 himself.. (Minato and A and Killer B are all badasses btw)
