Hello, my first time posting here, so...
I think this one was played, or averted, or something like that, in Final Fantasy VII, when near the end (spoiler, btw) Cloud stays at a hill and orders the entire party to leave and go home and say they'll leave tomorrow, because the final battle might be too much and he won't blame anyone for not coming back. You know, kind of kills the entire "being shamed into joining too" thingy, right?
And since I actually played that before watching this trope in so many movies, I kinda of never forgive people for actually doing this and shaming people into submission. Okay, sometimes you can't wait a day, but most times this trope is played like "whoever wants to come with me stay the way you are, thank you all for joining my team, let's go!"
