Hmm. This trope is used as two VERY different things.

1. A subtrope of Show Within a Show, where the in-universe show is portrayed as pretentious. 2. A subtrope of "True Art", where people does Complaining About Shows You Dont Like and accuse the work of being pretentious.

This second type, meh, I don't know. Maybe a cleanup or a split or something would be in order... removing it, or making it an objective trope where the premise is changed from "these works suck, and if you don't agree then you are snob" to "these works tend to get "Love It or Hate It".

Just my two cents. Maybe someone else will bother to take this to the TRS.
