John Cleese brings up this term up on the added audio tracks of the Monty Python and The Holy Grail specifically for the Black Knight scene but also how using excessive brightly red spurting "Kensington gore" was a trope they used for humor several times.

Can someone explain why "Kensington Gore" is a pun for the benefit of us non-Londonites?
