I had the exact same thoughts. I removed the example. Unless it gets a better elaboration, it seems misapplied.
- It underlies The Lord of the Rings and the rest of Tolkien's world.
I'm not actually sure that LOTR works off this trope. Yes, Morgoth's actions allow the creation of new beauty in and of themselves, but it doesn't change the fact that the narrative concludes the world would have been better if the evil hadn't been done to begin with.
