What if a character plays a very small role in canon, and doesn't become an Ensemble Dark Horse among fandom, but is given a much bigger role in a Fan Fic? Is it still this trope?

I've noticed that a few of the Ascended Extras are sometimes Ascended Ghosts would that be a good redirect for this?
