This is just a cool story, but in one of my D&D games, the characters got hit with a lightning bolt, and 70 gp worth of gold coins got fused together. They ended up selling it for a good chunk of change to an artist, on the basis that it was "modern art". I let them roll with it because I was laughing my ass off. No point, just a cool story.
