Suggestion to make this a YMMV kind of trope?
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).
Okay, so pretty much the whole point of this trope's page is to advertise [insert popular fic here] and a number of other ones. It's highly subjective, and I feel there's simply too many ways for this trope's inclusions to be argued unworthy. After all, 2/3 of the page or more were done by one or two people.
As I shall demonstrate: Team 8 does not belong on this page. Neither does any fic that doesn't follow the trope's definitions provided in the second paragraph. But Team 8 I can comment on thoroughly.
"Team 8, a fanfic for Naruto, really catches the flavor and feel of the show while not sacrificing originality or quality."
If that's not just patronizing...
- Team 8 kills off a core main character and revises the personalities of a few of them.
- The whole point of the fic is that the continuity is being revised. Check out the reviews (TEAM 8 IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN CANON, I LIKE YOUR NARUTO BETTER BECAUSE HE'S SO SMART).
- The whole story has broached the appeal of moving away from canon.
If Team 8 makes it here, what else made it here?
