Would one reason from Ben 10: Alien Force count? The frog-like emperor bad guy was going to blow up the Earth because the (alien) guy who kidnapped his daughter took her there. That sounds like a type three to me.
The Justice League example: Hawkgirl was scouting Earth five years according to canon. Later her soon-to-be ex/commander of the fleet said that if they didn't make the hyperspace bypass there, it'd take five years to find somewhere else to park another bypass. Working on the assumption of Hawkgirl saying sentients were on Earth in her very first report (no reason not to, every reason to do so), they basically spent the better part of five years plotting to use/destroy Earth instead of a nice uninhabited planet or moon. Yup, a definite number three.
