Regarding Joel's fluency in English, I'm pretty sure people from Nordic countries are generally just very fluent in English, regardless of whether they've traveled to an English-speaking country. I've noticed a tendency for Nordic (or at least Swedish and Norwegian) YouTubers to make videos in English instead of their native tongues, and rarely making any mistakes other than maybe not knowing the English translation for a word or two.

Also regarding Joel's English skills, I added an entry to his dad's character page entry about an incident that indicates that his dad isn't as good at speaking English, or at least wasn't at the time. Specifically, that Joel downloaded a file (I think a game) and his dad thought it contained a virus because it had the English word "madness" in the filename, with his dad mistakenly assuming that all files with "madness" in their name contain viruses.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
