So, since you know what needs changing, is there a reason you can't change it yourself?
"Milligan suffered from bipolar disorder, as well as being driven to manic depression..."
That sentence needs to be reworded. "Bipolar disorder" is "manic depression" (mania and depression are the two poles); another two names are moodswing and cyclothymia.
