So, I have to ask: at what point does this stop being considered \\\"subtext\\\"?

It just seems like a bit of a double standard, that opposite-sex couples with very intentional romantic tension are filed as HoYay — that is, a fan interpretation trope — while same-sex couples with close relationships completely devoid of anything implying their feelings might be above platonic are listed as ShipTease. For goodness\\\' sake, I\\\'ve seen an AbortedDeclarationOfLove and explicit ShipTease listed as HoYay! In some cases, there really isn\\\'t anything \\\"subtextual\\\" about it.

And if you\\\'re saying it\\\'s because they\\\'ll never happen, need I remind you of all the explicitly jossed het couples still listed under ShipTease? Soul/Maka comes to mind.

So, what would it take for something to be listed as legitimate ShipTease? If there\\\'s actually a kiss in the upcoming Rebellion movie, would that still be HoYay?
