When TV Tropes is stating RoboTech as the ground breaking series for opening anime to markets outside of Japan is this statement based on the English dubbed version of Robotech being the first to stay true to the original content of the Japanese product or that RoboTech was first timewise? I only ask this because I have very clear memories of English dubbed Starblazers episodes being shown on morning slots for UHF channels (ie. WPIX in New York) in the late 70\'s (1978-1979). Granted the dub wasn\'t as true to the sorce material (Battleship Yamato) but I still remember the death of the captain greatly affecting my 4th grade friends and myself. Until RoboTech came out Starblazers was always noteworthy because it allowed the death of a major character. For me it was Starblazers that began my interest in Japanese Animation which was further fueled by RoboTech.
