Seems like this whole trope is based on insulting anime fans not from Japan. I\'ll bet a $100 it\'s the same people who used to make fun of anyone for using a computer/playing video games/being on the internet/dating on the internet from early 90\'s to early 00\'s, except that they\'e now using a computer, playing video games, surf the net for the very thing they make otaku\'s fun of and found their girlfriend/boyfriend on the internet. It\'s just sad and I don\'t get why they still continue.
