Still not sure - Mad Bart was viewed as a quirky character before TheReveal that he was a ManipulativeBastard who used a kid\\\'s love for his mother to further his own twisted \\\"games.\\\" It wasn\\\'t a MoralEventHorizon for the \\\'\\\'comic\\\'\\\' (which, let\\\'s face it, everyone \\\'\\\'knew\\\'\\\' was going to be extremely dark), but for Bart, who was pegged as nutcase-but-harmless and then turned out to be the purveyor of a XanatosGambit and possibly an official villain. From the M.E.H page: \\\"A good litmus test to show this is that if the portrayal of the villain has permanently changed as a result of doing something truly heinous, then they have crossed the moral event horizon.\\\" I\\\'d need to archive-dive again to double check, but I remember the fandom reaction being something along the lines of \\\"Hey, wasn\\\'t he meant to be \\\'\\\'funny?!\\\'\\\' That was \\\'\\\'horrible!\\\'\\\'\\\" It was an understated M.E.H (no dead bodies involved), but it certainly put paid to the idea that Bart was the local friendly nutcase. Although, frankly, the comic hadn\\\'t been long on its feet at that point...and the gouged-out eyes were probably a warning sign. :P
