The actions of Eskel, Lambert and Vesemir actually was what tipped me over into not thinking this is all about Triss getting Geralt; later in the first game Triss states she thinks Geralt should create his own identity rather than trying to pretend to be the person they remember. I figured the other Witchers and her discussed it and all agreed that was the best course of action. Note they also don't talk about others who aren't romantic competition (Ciri, Dandelion, Zoltan, Regis etc), not just Yennefer.
