I disagree. I am not going over why I disagree, because frankly this conversation should have ended long ago (not blaming you; I never know when to let a debate go)

Regarding secularization being an attempt to \"suppress\" religion: I am not having this conversation. I know what you are trying to say, and I strongly disagree.
I have also never seen any sign of catering to a Chinese audience.
This conversation needs to end before we end up banned. Civil or not, this is not the place.

Regarding secularization being an attempt to stamp out religion: I am not having this conversation. I know what you are trying to say, and I strongly disagree. They don't want to stamp out religion, they want to feel like they're not being pressured to be religious. Explaining any further would be dragging out a conversation that should not be happening here in the first place.

I meant that I have never seen specific, deliberate catering to a Chinese audience. Being consumed by Chinese people is different. All that says is that it's a high-quality, critically acclaimed series that has not actively pissed off Chinese people. It would trickle over without catering.

And I have never seen catering to any non-Western culture. I haven't seen more than tokenism, frankly.

The \"secularization\" is meant to *reduce* a pre-existing slant of religion. Nobody is stopping people from having religious beliefs; they just, ideally, can\'t be used to oppress other people, and people aren\'t pressured into performing religion if they don\'t want to.
If, for example, a Starbucks coffee cup says \"Happy Holidays\", it\'s not telling people that Christmas is no longer valid, it\'s telling other people that *their* holidays, or lack of holidays, are valid too.

And the slant is still there; in some states, businesses and adoption agencies still get to turn people away for religious reasons.

I mean, I have never seen specific catering to a Chinese audience. Being consumable by Chinese people is different. All that says is that it\'s a high-quality, critically acclaimed series that has not actively pissed off Chinese people. It would trickle over anyway. (Note that I said *major* Chinese characters; I\'m talking party members, characters who take part in major plotlines (like Reyes or Addison), that kind of thing.).
A token background NPC is not enough catering to suggest that they would be willing to metaphorically flip off a very large portion of their audience (if it were catering at all, and not an attempt to stave off accusations from the West of too much racial homogeneity).
