To return to Commando for a second, it\\\'s really hard to believe in an egalitarian who believes that women are \\\'\\\'hardwired\\\'\\\' to prioritize family over careers. Such an \\\"egalitarian\\\" would presumably see no problem at all with women being incredibly under-represented in pretty much every field of human endeavour aside from those related directly from family. I do not believe in this sort of egalitarianism -- I believe egalitarianism is holding that each individual is different, and each individual should be able to pursue who and what they want to be -- without facing unfair obstacles based on their sex, which women often do.

\\\"Missy?\\\"

No, I\\\'m not going to respond to every sentence you wrote. O_o That\\\'s asking a bit much. I believe my general response there was \\\"I agree men are often treated unfairly, but often there\\\'s a flip side that hurts women as well, and often -- in more profound ways\\\". Courts? Fine, take custody battles. Why do women get custody of kids more often? Because they\\\'re \\\"mommies\\\" first and foremost. It\\\'s unfair to men who lose custody of their children, but it also speaks of an underlying stereotype that can, and does, deeply hurt women.

Also you are wrong -- I am not arguing male leaders are the source of all the problems. I am arguing they are a symptom of the problem, which is, as I said repeatedly, a cultural issue. No secret government decides what the culture is, but it does result in women generally being disadvantaged.

Also men are \\\'\\\'not\\\'\\\' objectified in the same way women are, not even remotely. Men always take a far greater range of roles in the media than women do, as this very wiki will show you (though this is one of those things that has been getting better -- it\\\'s not fixed yet). When they aren\\\'t portrayed as sex objects, women are usually portrayed as housewives, girlfriends, and in other supporting roles for men. Compare how many major films have primary male protagonists vs. female protagonists, for example. Men are portrayed by the media negatively too, but by and large their roles, even when negative, come with a lot more freedom than what female characters are given.
