Who would like to see a deconstruction of this trope?

I\'d honestly like to see a game deconstruct this trope. How would it look to the characters in-game, to suddenly have these extra dungeons and pathways open up all of a sudden? Why would they be motivated to backtrack to these areas in the first place? Are they stuck in some sort of limbo between the the ending and conclusion of the game?

Just some ideas that came to my head, thought it would be interesting to post them here.
