As a kid I remember playing A God Is You game (as in the player being a god, not the main character) where you could interact with the world to change it (for better or worse). The interactions were limited, so if you used it at the wrong moment, that's that for it. I believe there was a list of tasks that game gave you to try aim for, because I remember getting frustrated as eventually it became too hard to make any meaningful progress. Although it was hard, it wasn't too complex, since as far as I remember, all action happened on a single screen, and in hindsight it was probably all about writing down what worked and what didn't work. Pretty sure it's an old game that was released for PC, even for the time I played it (which had to be before 2010).
