If it helps, I remember a part of a scene where the team is on some planet and the team's, I believe, medic remarks that this is her home planet. Then again, it may be false memory, after all those years

I remember watching an anime 7-10 years ago. It was about some kind of a space football game. The main character was the captain of the team playing this sport and his father disappeared somewhen before the start of the anime. Towards the end, it is revealed that the main characters' father is a space pirate
