I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.It seems the general climate among the public is more toxic and prone to controversy now than it used to be, so I think the problem is not so much with the works but with the audience.

Why is it so hard to find a popular film/tv series/ video game these days without it suffering from some kind of Seasonal rot, Scrappy, Hype Backlash, Creator breakdown, Controversy, Toxic fandom, Instances in which a character or plot thread are wasted ,Broken base or heaven forbid Darkness induced apathy? Are these issues merely an inherent flaw in the writing system thats all but inevitable or a side effect of popularity or is there more to it?
