Huh, looks like the main reason I didn't find it was that none of the examples I could think of are listed. Guess I should add them, when I can find the time.
Is there a trope for those musical numbers where you start with a singer and/or a beat, and then gradually add instruments until you end up with a whole orchestra and chorus at the end?
Examples:
- The Offspring - Why Don't You Get A Job
- OK GO - This Too Shall Pass
- Possibly Wayne Lytle's animusic stuff, because the point is to show off the weird instruments one by one
