Studies have shown that even if a typical person is told that someone is lying to them, they will still believe it if they have no other source of information.

Is there a trope for when someone meets someone new, and not long after, a third person comes in, tells an outright lie about the second person and the first person will automatically believe it, even though he or she is a total stranger to him?
