Just go to the URL of the page you want to create, and edit it. For instance, if I wanted to create a page for the novel Whatever Seven: The Evil Thing, I'd go to Literature.Whatever Seven The Evil Thing and just start editing.

Bear in mind that new tropes should go through YKTTW before being created (I still don't think we technically have a rule about that, but trust me, you'll bring the hounds of hell down on your own head if you create a new trope without YKTTW).

Works Pages Are A Free Launch if you're confident in writing the page yourself, but you are welcome to send one of those through YKTTW as well, and you can also create a page in the Sandbox/ namespace to work on it before launching, if you don't want to do the whole page in one sitting or offline (it's also a wonderful tool for practicing with wiki formatting).

And of course, if you do create a Sandbox/ page to work on it, you can enlist help from the forums if you want help working on it.

Thanks dude. Now, how do I index a page?

No worries.

To index a page, add it to the index you want to index it under (i.e., to index some Australian Literature, just add it to the appropriate spot on Australian Literature).

Be sure to create the page before adding it to the index. The "indexing magic" happens when you edit the index, so if the page doesn't exist when that happens, it won't be indexed even after you create it. To fix that, just do a null edit (edit and save without changing anything) on the index.

But if you create the page, then add it to the index, you won't have any problems.

tl;dr

  • If you have already created the page, add it to the index. TA-DA, indexed.
  • If you have not already created the page, create it, then add it to the index. TA-DA, indexed.
  • If you already added it to the index before you created the page, go to the index, edit, save without changing anything. TA-DA, indexed.

Oh man, thanks. It only took me about an hour, but I just created my first page. Awwww yeah. It's scruffy, but it just got indexed a couple of minutes ago.

Coolio.

I should have linked you to this in my first post, but you can also take a look at How to Create a Work's Page for advice on some of the finer details, like crosswicking and page type, and other minor details that can easily be overlooked, but are still very important.
