What do you remember about the show?

It wouldn't happen to be an episode of Roundhouse, would it?

Marshmallowhime Since: Nov, 2012

No, it definitely wasn't Roundhouse. This came on a few years after the last time I remember seeing Roundhouse on Nick. I remember this show's premiere being hyped before it came on, and then nothing ever came of it afterwards (that I can remember, anyway). Thanks, though!

I know exactly the program you're talking about. It's haunted me for years, it only aired once and I watched it...until I read your query, I thought I was hallucinating the entire time I'd seen it, this show was so strange. It was called 'And Now This..." and it was a pilot for a sketch comedy show that aired in 1998. It was created by a company called 44 Blue productions. That's all I've been able to find on it. But I'll tell you what I remember (I have an oddly good memory for this type of thing). The show had a "be yourself" aesop to it, and "This" was a character, some sort of hideous green monster that looked like a boglin. "This" thought no one liked him because he was a monster, but he had a young (human) female friend who said she liked him just the way he was....there was also a man-sized puppet that was a sort of humanoid rat. I think he was a waiter in one sketch. There was a weird bit that had narration along the lines of "what if everyone were the same?" and suddenly everyone's heads in this picture turned into the head of this woody allen looking guy named "Hugh Mee". The entire show seemed like something out of Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (Find the Fish reminded me a LOT of this.) I have not been able to ind the pilot but I believe there is a picture of "This" on the hardcover copy (under the jacket) of a book called "Noisy Outlaws, Unfriendly Blobs...." (it's a long title, try amazon if you want to know more.) I bought that book some years ago and almost dropped it upon seeing that creepy SOB "This" gazing up at me. I'd have known him anywhere.

YES, And Now This, that's exactly it! Oh my god, thank you so much, this has been absolutely killing me for such a long time. I knew I'd know the title as soon as I heard it. I knew somebody else out there had to have been haunted by this thing, it was too creepy for anybody else not to. Thank you so much.

Oh man, now that you mention it...I'm never going to be able to think of this show the same way again. As if it didn't creep me out enough already. I wonder how many other people remember it. I wonder if I can find that videotape, just to prove it's real.

The only one I can think of is Cousin Skeeter, which had both an African American puppeeter and puppet? Could that be it?

They said there was a bunch of hype about the premiere when it came out. I'm wondering if a promo for it is on You Tube in a video that has a bunch of Nickelodeon commercials from 1998.

The answers are 1123, Michael Jackson, that creepy dog downstairs, infinity, Axl Rose, keeps your pants up, and Nethaniel and Superfly.

Oh goodness no! is this This? If that's This, then this is worse than I thought! I must see this! This is worse than if Candle Cove was real!

An Orlando Sentinel article describes it thus: " a sketch-comedy show with Coolio as guest host and appearances by LL Cool J, the Backstreet Boys and Sugar Ray." Wow I remember none of that. But hey, more evidence I wasn't hallucinating. http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/keyword/guest-host/featured/5

Well, if you were very little when it came out, maybe you didn't know the people's names.

Do you remember at all if there were ads for the show before it came out?

And Now This is listed under “Variety Programs” in this article on The Other Wiki. No other info, though. I couldn’t find an IMDB listing.

This entire thread is hard for me to follow. I looked into the the picture above, which is apparently the one that Clinker Gynoid remembered, but it's not necessarily the one the OP asked about. I then did a google search for the words on the picture (noisy outlaws unfriendly blobs) and it was easy to find that it's the title of a book of short stories. I'm guessing that picture is the front cover of the book, which indicates that it's not a television show from 1990s Nickelodeon.

Also, the Orlando Sentinel link above doesn't work correctly for me. At least, when I look at the page, I don't see anything about Coolio or LL Cool J.

Hey, it's me. I don't know for SURE if that picture is from the show, it WAS on a book and Nickelodeon and the book don't seem to have any kind of clear link, so I could be wrong. But I instantly got a flash of recognition when I first saw that picture, I KNOW the 'This" puppet had green skin and bulging eyes like that, and an open mouth. Maybe the rights lapsed and they bought the picture because they liked it (it's a surreal book, I've read it). But I could easily be wrong.

I'm sorry if the link is dead. It's kind of old.

I guess it befits my name to say this: the show has been found by someone on another site. It IS at Youtube (bits and pieces, anyway), just not under the show's name. Do a search for: big nazo demo reel

As Belated Answerer has said, footage of the show has been found on this tumblr thread. Apparently the puppets are part of a puppet troupe called "BIG NAZO." Here's a clip featuring Ratzo, and here's another with that green blob guy. There's about five clips (counting these two) featuring the puppets on You Tube.
