Probably a good time to bump this...

These both still haunt me. Any fresh eyes have any fresh ideas?
"The Million Dollar Shot"? Kid wins a contest to take a free throw for a lot of money. He has a friend who's a girl. Pretty ok book. The kid's name is Eddie Ball in case I got the title wrong.
Yes! No wonder I couldn't find it, I was searching for "free throw" instead of "shot"...
Now I just need the Vegetable Laboratory Mummy... thing book
Could #2 possibly be the A-Z Mysteries: The Missing Mummy?
Unfortunately, it's not. I'm pretty sure it was a one-shot, not part of a series. And it was a mummy that was found in a lab of vegetation or flora, not a mystery of one missing from a museum.
Need two books:
1. (SOLVED: MILLION DOLLAR SHOT) A boy enters a free throw competition. Large money prize. I think he needs it to help his family or something. He gets nervous as the competition gets nearer and has trouble hitting free throws until someone (a girl I think) shows him how to calm himself by taking the shot with his eyes closed. I don't think it's Free Throw by Jacqueline Guest. I read it before 2002. It's really bugging me.
2. These two kids find a mummy in the back room of some lab that they clean during the summer. Both boys. One is the narrator and he complains about some "look" his friend always gives him that makes him laugh. Even when he can't see it (like at his sister's piano recital). This one I read in 2002, it is probably older, though. So, yeah... Two boys, mummy, a "look". Please and thank you.
