Your mama may have had eyes in the back of her head, but our admin team just can't see everything at once. It takes a village to make sure TVTropes is running the way it should, so when it comes to spotting tech snafus, dreaming up a better digital mousetrap, or just diagnosing plain old asshattery, the quicker you let us know something's up, the quicker we can address it. See a bug? Point to it and we'll squash it. Have idea for a new feature? Post in the Tech Wishlist.

AacornSoup, can you like upload the original file to a Drive or something and link here for diagnostics? The issue could be either on your end or on site's end or with the file itself, because a clip should not be uploading for longer than a few minutes.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI had similar trouble uploading a video example 3 days ago. It was some time after midnight◊ that I started uploading, and at about 4%, I realised it was taking longer than usual. If it was uploading at a consistent rate, that rate was almost 2 minutes per 1%◊. Cut to roughly 1 hour later and it's only at 36%◊. 20 minutes after that, 63%. When I checked back 70 minutes later, however, it was apparently stuck at 94% (sorry I don't have a pic for this one)◊.
So I decided to reupload it and checked back in the morning - it said "Upload Failed". But then when I uploaded it for the 3rd time that morning, it worked normally.
I'm unsure if it's an issue with the site or that the internet traffic on my end was particularly slow at that time. It was late at night, and I noticed that some pages took longer than usual to load (on TV Tropes, but I forget if other websites lagged too).

When I upload a Video Example (2-3 minute video) to TV Tropes, it can take upwards of a dozen hours (the shortest it's ever taken was 8 hours) in order to complete the upload. Uploading is also extremely finicky, and things like Sleep Mode, bandwidth disruptions, or even turning my monitors off for the night could result in an "Upload Failed!" message, with absolutely zero hope of resuming or salvaging the upload, and I have to restart the upload all over again (which is extremely frustrating when the "Upload Failed!" happens when the upload is almost complete).
By contrast, when I upload a 2-hour Let's Play to YouTube, it only takes 20 minutes- 30 at most- to completely upload and process the video, so I know the issue is not with my computer or my bandwidth.
Is there a way to salvage a failed upload without having to restart from the beginning? Is there a way to get the time it takes to upload a 2-3 minute video down to less than 8 hours (or even less than 4)?
