I always preferred the international title "Bernardo e Bianca na Terra dos Cangurus". Why do americans always call Australia "Down Under"?

Probably for the same reason they divide the Americas in two when counting the continents, and by that logic shouldn't be Antartica the land Down Under?

So the movie was called like that in portuguese too? In spanish it was called "Bernardo y Bianca en Cangurolandia", which I think means the same, but honestly it sounds silly, I think a literall translation of "The Rescuers" would have been a better title.

[up] Here schools say that The Americas are one continent.

And doing a literal translation of The Rescuers would sous sillier that Bernardo e Bianca, IMO.

Also, Body Fantasies Vampire.

In Finland it was called Bernard ja Bianca Australiassa, which means Bernard and Bianca in Australia. I saw in theatre but to be honest, the only things I remember clearly about is that Bernard tries to propose Bianca several times and is jealous to a hopping mouse.

Even though I like the Beauty and the Beast even as an adult, for some reason I found some of Belle's animation lacking in facial expressions when I saw it on DVD last time. Glen Keane parts of Ariel are much better animated. Mark Henn was the other supervising animator, which makes Ariel look slightly different in some scenes.

If Europe and Asia count as two continents, there's no way the americas count as one.

The kid's nickname is movie? Well actually, that's a relief, because for a second there, I thought one of the characters was being self-referential, and yelling at the film, too, and I hate that kind of bullshit.

Love or hate Phelous' style of metahumour, that is a great line.

And I love the double-team of Phelous and the Critic. They play off of each other extremely well, and they temper each others tendency to take it a little too far when they're on their own.

I won't be too upset if he doesn't, but I do hope he likes Hunchback and Mulan overall. Maybe it's the more adult feel of both, maybe it's the songs, maybe I just really think all the characters are cool (yes I even like the Gargoyles), but those two are probably my favorite Disney movies.

Doug actually got pretty critical in the tale end of the 4 golden movies. I guess that's fine, if not slightly jarring. I actually find some of his complaints on The Lion King not as well founded, but his tastes I can't complain about. (I can't help it if I liked Elton John's music and I mean all of it). One thing that I didn't notice about Scar is that he's essentially what Simba would have become if he hadn't been instilled with a strong sense of responsibility, hense why he became such a whiner.

As for the Aladdin thing, In the 3 point star of their greats, Aladdin was probably the funny measuring stick in comparison to the critical perfection of Beauty and the Beast and the Super big gross of The Lion King. That's probably why it had the more modern vibe. (ironic, that Dreamworks would then take this up much more, and become infamous for it) And still, Genie is the best character of the bunch.

Yeah, the funniest thing about Pochahontas was how technically, it was their A-list team working on the project, thinking it to be a super mature and well done story, and yet somehow it was their B-list team that made The Lion King and ended up making the A-listers look like fools. And once it started to hit the floor, the rest began to slip, until the 2nd dark age arose. (and whether it'll climb out of it remains to be seen)

Anyways, I still think he's a great reviewer, and I'm definately curious to see what he thinks of the last couple to come. (On that note, he did mention he's gonna only do the 2-d films, so why is he doing Enchanted?) That means there's only 12 more to go. Onward and upward Doug.

[up][up] Most people think they've already gotten past their Dork Age, what with The Princess And The Frog, Tangled, and the newest Winnie the Pooh.

And he's doing Tangled and Enchanted because, while CG animation, and live-action with some animation, respectively, they're both active returns to what makes Disney Disney. People like to label Enchanted as a deconstruction, but they forget that it's also a reconstruction. By the end, they play all the tropes straight, and the message of the movie is basically "Sure, fairy tales are unrealistically optimistic. But there's nothing wrong with that."

I fully expect to disagree with him on Tarzan. I love the movie, but as the Critic, he made a joke about Phil Collins appearing in Hook that he'll be "off to ruin Disney's Tarzan", which I find completely off the mark. But that's two entries away (next will be Hunchback, Hercules & Mulan after all), and who knows, maybe he'll bring up some good points when he gets to it.

...Whoa. I never realized how much Tangled ripped off Aladdin before. Chase scene at the beginning, girl who just wants to find a life outside her castle walls, male rogue lead, and instead of a magic carpet ride you get a magic lantern float.

...GAH.

[up] Er, you're really kind of stretching it there. A chase scene toward the start isn't unique to Aladdin, Aladdin was an "honest thief" with Flynn was a straight-up Jerkass outlaw at first, Rapunzel's situtation was different (and alot darker) than Jasmine's, and the "I See The Light" scene is no more a rip-off of "A Whole New World" than it is of "Kiss The Girl".

Alot of Disney movies tend to have similarities to one another; this situation is really nothing new.

I bet he mentions the rather dark tone of the movie, and probably Clayton.

And whose death was the darkest part of the dark tone. I mean...GEEZ!

[up] It's his thing, he can skip whatever he wants (and he never said he was skipping them anyway, just that he "might" be skipping "some"). I don't think that's an unreasonable thing to give him, considering he undertook over 40 movies as a side-project for us this year.
